“The Dinner Table” is an award-winning observational docuseries produced by Newsreel
Asia and co-published with the U.S.-based magazine Religion Unplugged. Each episode
focuses on one of India’s persecuted communities, exploring what identity-based
discrimination and violence do to the minds and hearts of its members. Docuseries host
Harshita Rathore cooks a meal with the family and sits down for dinner with them, whilst the
crew films the unscripted, heart-to-heart conversations that happen. “The Dinner Table” won
the 2022 EPPY Award in the U.S., in the “Best Community Service Reporting” category, and
was a runner-up in the “Best Investigative/Enterprise Video” category. It was also a runner-up
in the 2021 EPPY Awards, in both the “Best Collaborative” and “Best News or Event Feature
Video” categories.
